Sending Direct Marketing Message via SMS by Individuals or Organisation:
Sending direct marketing or promotional campaigns to recipients follows the rules as specified below:
Consent :
SMS messages should only be sent to customers who have agreed to receiving marketing messages from you. Consent could be:
- Express consent – The recipient of the message has specifically requested messages from you or your company/organisation.
- Inferred consent – In case there is not a clear indication of consent, because of an existing relationship with the customer, it is expected that you/your company will contact said customer to check if it is still alright to send promotional campaigns or direct marketing.
Identify :
- Your messages must clearly indicate the person, company or organisation that is sending the message. This is usually done using a Sender’s ID.
Unsubscribe :
- It is within the rules to offer the recipient the option to stop receiving your communications; allowing them to indicate that they no longer wish to receive SMS messages from you or your company/organisation.
For consumers receiving unwanted SMS messages
As a customer of the sender (user of the service), if you have received an unwanted text/SMS message via IvySMS SMS Gateway, the quickest way to block someone from sending messages to you is to reply to the sender's SMS with the word STOP. IvySMS does not take responsibility for messages sent over its Gateway platform. The responsibility lies solely with the user.
You may wish to find out who messaged you via our gateway and block the offending user from messaging you via our online facility. We will show you all recent messages sent to your mobile via our gateway. You can then block individual users from messaging you, as well as obtain contact details of the sender.
